After back-to-back home wins, the Rams hit the road with momentum in their sails as they prepare to take on Norwich City at the weekend.

The Rams take on Daniel Farke’s in-form Canaries at Carrow Road looking for their first win on their travels since August and ahead of the game, dcfc.co.uk has pulled together all the key information you are going to need to know…

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS?

Johnny Russell will be assessed ahead of this weekend’s trip to East Anglia.

The 27-year-old Scotland international picked up a slight groin injury in training earlier this week, but Gary Rowett, the Derby boss, said he should be ok to be in contention to start at Carrow Road.

Other than that, the Rams have no new injury concerns.

Curtis Davies and Matej Vydra both had minor problems, but are expected to be fine to play against Norwich, whilst Sam Winnall will come back into the fold after being ineligible to play against Sheffield Wednesday, his parent club, last time out.

Jason Shackell, Max Lowe, Jamie Hanson and George Thorne are all anticipated to feature for the Under-23s in their match against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday evening.

WHAT DID THE BOSS HAVE TO SAY?

Speaking to RamsTV to look ahead to the trip to Norwich City, Gary Rowett said: “I think it’s all about the mindset. We’re starting to feel a little more confident, we’re in a better place to go away from home and play a more consistent style.

“We’ve not won enough away games, but we’ve shown that we can be resilient and limit the opposition and now we need to transfer some of the good attacking moments from our home games into the away games.

“Now that we’ve won two games at home, the debate will be whether we can go away and be far more expansive, and we want to build the confidence of the team so that we can attack away just as well as we do at home.”

He added: “Our recent run of limiting the opposition, in terms of goals and chances, has been excellent. At the moment, we’re due to concede less goals than last season and score more, so we’re heading in the right direction.

“Building that solidity is important. When you look at the teams that have got out of this division, they’ve conceded between 30 and 45 goals per season, so it doesn’t take a genius to say that you’ve got to concede less than one goal a game on average.”

WHO IS THE PLAYER TO WATCH?

It has taken a little bit of time, but since joining Norwich City in February 2016 from Coventry City 20-year-old midfielder James Maddison is now proving to be a big hit at Carrow Road.

His hero status has only been heightened by his match winning strike in the Old Farm derby against Ipswich Town last Sunday – his third goal in his last four League games.

Before becoming a Canary, he had made a swift impression at the Ricoh Arena – scoring five goals in just over 30 appearances for the Sky Blues as they narrowly missed out on Sky Bet League play-off spot.

Ironically, Maddison made his Norwich debut in the 6-1 EFL Cup thrashing of his former club in August 2016 and then enhanced his first team experience with five-month loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.

While at Pittodrie, he played 17 games and made headlines by scoring a last-minute free-kick to help his side beat Rangers.

On his return to Carrow Road, Maddison featured in three league matches, registering his first City goal in the 3-1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale, but has since cemented himself as one of the first names on the team sheet this term.

ONE TO REMEMBER

NORWICH CITY 1-2 DERBY COUNTY
Saturday 4th October 2008

Substitute Nathan Ellington took advantage of a David Marshall mistake to earn 10-man Derby a deserved victory at Carrow Road when the sides met in October 2008.

Derby led through Rob Hulse's bullet header midway through the first half but a Sammy Clingan penalty levelled things shortly after the interval.

It proved to be a double whammy for the visitors as Roy Carroll, the Rams ‘keeper, was also sent off for hauling down Leroy Lita to hand the Canaries the spot-kick.

But at the other end, with just give minutes remaining, Marshall ran out to a loose ball way too early, gifting it to Ellington, who tapped the ball into the empty net from outside the area.

Norwich City: Marshall, Otsemobor (Fotheringham, 58), Omozusi, Drury, Bertrand, Croft (Lupoli, 80), Clingan, Russell, Koroma (Bell, 62), Sibierski, Lita.

Substitutes not used: Nelson, Cureton.

Derby County: Carroll, Connolly, Leacock, Nyatanga, Stewart, Barazite (Kazmierczak, 62), Green, Addison, Davies (Ellington, 74), Villa (Bywater, 50), Hulse.

Substitutes not used: Sterjovski, Davis.

WHO ARE THE MATCH OFFICIALS?

Peter Bankes will take charge of Derby County's 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Norwich City on Saturday.

Bankes has overseen 15 games so far this season, producing a total of 55 yellow cards and three reds.

His last Derby game was Gary Rowett's first match in the charge back in March, in a 2-2 draw away to Nottingham Forest.

Bankes will be assisted by Darren Blunden and Timothy Wood on the lines, whilst Craig Hicks has been appointed as the fourth official.
