Kyron Stabana believes that Derby County’s Under-23s have the perfect opportunity to bounce back when they face Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League 2 Division 1 at Pride Park Stadium this evening.

Darren Wassall’s side had won four on the bounce, which includes impressive League wins against Manchester United and Liverpool, before their 4-1 defeat at Manchester City last Saturday.

The 19-year-old right back thinks that facing another big side will provide the ideal motivation for the squad to get back to winning ways under the lights at Pride Park Stadium.

He told RamsTV: “It’s a big game for us, especially after losing last Saturday, so it’s a good opportunity for us to bounce back.

“We were on a really good run and we’re confident that we can get back to winning ways to get the run going again; we had another good week of training and we’re raring to go again.

“They’re another big club, and it’s another big test for us against some good players.

“The coaches always say that in football, you always have another opportunity and ours is this game.”

The Under-23s narrowly avoided relegation last season but they have started this season in a promising manner on all fronts, with wins against some of the Premier League’s leading lights complimented by Premier League Cup win at Birmingham City and victory in the Steve Bloomer Trophy against Real Union.

Stabana is pleased with the side’s start, both individually and collectively, but he knows that the team need to keep building momentum in the upcoming weeks.

He said: “It’s gone well for me personallhy, I’ve featured in nearly all of the games but I need to keep pushing myself and put in some more good performances.

“It’s been a great start for all of us, last season we didn’t have the greatest start, but this year we’re playing well and getting the results.

“We worked really hard throughout pre-season and we came into the season and had really good unbeaten run, so we just need to get back to winning ways.”
