Substitute goalkeeper Joe Fryatt saved three Manchester United penalties to send Derby County’s Under-18s into the Fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.


The sides drew 2-2 at Pride Park during normal time against a 10-man United side.

Henry Wise, Jayden Bogle and Jason Knight all scored for the Rams in the penalty shootout, with Derby winning 3-1 on penalties.

James Garner converted his spot kick for the visitors.

The Rams took the lead after just three minutes with Connor Dixon volleying in a cleared corner from outside of the penalty area.

United equalised shortly after falling behind; Tahith Chong capitalised on a defensive mix-up and curled his shot into the bottom corner of the net past Sam French.

Defender Jayden Bogle guided in a superb free kick from a tight angle midway through the first half to give the hosts the lead for the second time in the match.

The visitors pulled the game level once again in the second half, after Aidan Barlow headed in substitute Millen Baars’ cross at the back post.

United substitute Aliou Traore was sent off during extra time following a late challenge on Max Bird.

What’s To Come…

Justin Walker’s and Rory Delap’s side face a trip to Norwich City in the next round of the competition.

The match against the Red Devils was their last of 2017, as they now take a month off for the Christmas period.

The Rams return to action on Saturday the 13th of January where they face a trip to Kirkby to face Liverpool in the Premier League- North.
