FEATURE: The Rams Return for Pre-Season Training

John Eustace’s Derby County squad have returned to Moor Farm Training Centre for their first full week of pre-season training ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Rams squad were back in full training this week after completing annual pre-season baseline testing on Thursday and Friday last week.

The players took to the pitches at Moor Farm on Monday for their first full session of an intense week of training.

As well as welcoming his players back, Head Coach Eustace also saw new First Team Coach Ben Wilkinson - who joined from Manchester City last week - take his first session as part of the coaching staff, alongside Assistant Head Coach Matt Gardiner, Lead Individual Development Coach Keith Downing, First Team Tactical Coach Christoph Bühler and Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements.

Returning Ram Bobby Clark was also back out on the pitch and reunited with his Derby teammates for the first time since making last season’s loan move from Red Bull Salzburg a permanent one in DE24.

Derby’s time on the grass at Moor Farm sees the squad begin to ramp up the intensity as they set their sights on upcoming friendly matches, beginning with Alfreton Town on Friday 17th July (7pm kick-off). The team will then head out for a week-long overseas camp in Austria, a day later.

Jacob Widell Zetterström, who impressed between the sticks for Sweden at the FIFA World Cup, will report back at a later date as he rests following his FIFA World Cup campaign, which ended in the Round of 32 against France over a week ago.

Meanwhile, Sondre Langås remains out in the United States with the Norway squad, making history as they prepare to face England in a World Cup Quarter-Final in Miami, Florida, on Saturday 11th July (9pm kick-off, UK time) – the deepest the country has ever gone in the competition.

The Rams’ 2026/27 campaign will get underway when they face Lincoln City in Round One of the Carabao Cup at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday 8th August (3pm kick-off), before attention turns to the opening game of the Sky Bet Championship season away to Charlton Athletic a week later.
