Derby County’s Darren Bent has today linked up with Burton Albion for the remainder of the campaign.

The striker, who will turn 34 next month, completed the paperwork to join the Brewers, managed by former Derby boss Nigel Clough, in a loan deal which will run until the end of the season this afternoon.

Bent recently returned to fitness after suffering a hamstring injury during pre-season which required surgery.

He has built up his match fitness with Derby’s Under-23s in recent weeks but has failed to make a first-team appearance this season.

Bent, capped 13 times by England between 2006 and 2011, could make his Burton debut in their home game against Reading on Tuesday 30th January.

He will, however, be unable to face Derby when the two sides meet at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday 14th April under the terms of the loan agreement.

Bent joined Derby on loan from Aston Villa in January 2015 before signing permanently a few months later as a free agent.

In total he has made 84 appearances for Derby and scored on 28 occasions.
