Alex Pearce has been selected in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their international friendly against Turkey on the 23rd March.

Martin O’Neill’s side head to the 32,539-capacity Antalya Stadium as they look to recover after missing out on qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia this summer.

Turkey – now managed by former Galatasaray and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu – will be looking to do the same after they finished fourth in Group I during qualifying, and they’ve won just one of their six games under the new boss.

If he features, Pearce will earn his 10th international cap and his first since he came on during Ireland’s 3-1 friendly victory over Uruguay back in June 2017.

The centre-back also has two international goals to his name – both against Oman.
