Derby County legend Igor Stimac will be a special guest at Pride Park Stadium as the Rams take on Barnsley in their 46th and final Sky Bet Championship league game of the season on Sunday.

The iconic defender will be presented to the Derby faithful before kick-off ahead of the crucial clash and the club are encouraging fans to enter their seats as early as possible.

Gary Rowett’s side will be looking to secure their play-off place with a positive result and they will watched by the Croatian, who himself reached Premier League with Derby back in 1996 – alongside Rowett.

Stimac was brought to the Baseball Ground in 1995 as Jim Smith assembled a squad capable of achieving promotion from the second tier of English football.

They succeeded at the first attempt and the defender – who earned 53 caps for Croatia over a 12-year international career – was a key member of the side that maintained their place in the top flight until 1999, when he departed for West Ham United after 93 Derby appearances.

Since then, Stimac has managed his country as well as several clubs in his home nation, and he managed Hadjuk Split to the Croatian title in 2005.
