Today’s the day. Hosts Russia will, this afternoon, kick-off the 2018 instalment of the FIFA World Cup – opening the curtains by taking on Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki Stadium (4pm BST).


Between now and Sunday 15th July, the world’s best footballing nations will compete for one of football’s iconic prizes and ahead of the tournament, dcfc.co.uk spoke to new assistant manager ,Jody Morris, as well as seven Derby County players to get their pre-tournament predictions.
