Fresh from signing a new four-year contract with the club, 18-year-old full back Jayden Bogle knows this is just the start of his journey as a professional footballer.

The youngster has been thrust into the limelight following a string of impressive performances which have caught the eye.

He made his debut earlier this season against Oldham Athletic in the Carabao Cup and has gone from strength to strength.

That has forced Derby County boss Frank Lampard to reward Bogle with an improved contract and the full back is delighted to commit his future to the club.

“It’s overwhelming and I’ve enjoyed every minute so far and this is just the start,” he told RamsTV.

“When I first came here I had a tour of the training ground and that shocked me. I didn’t expect the facilities to be as good as they are but I’ve enjoyed my time here so far. It’s been really good playing with the under-18s, a few games with the under-23s and now with the first team.

“In the first few weeks here, it felt like home. Everyone here was so welcoming, from all the staff and all the players, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I’ve nowhere near made it to where I want to be yet but it’s just the start. The last few months have given me a real insight to what it is to be a first team player.”

Bogle has adapted to first team football seamlessly, however, it’s not all been plain sailing for the youngster.

“The first few times I was training with them I got nervous but once I got used to it, it was just more normal,” he said. “I played with more confidence and now I’m really enjoying it. I just try to focus and play my normal game. I look forward to training and the games every week so I’m living the dream really.

“You have to be at it in every training session. The intensity is a lot quicker, you have less time on the ball. In certain games there might be more pressure on you to perform, but that’s what it is at the highest level, especially in the Championship. It’s a tough league and there are tough teams in it so if you’re not at it then anyone can beat anyone.”

Bogle joined the club aged 15 from League Two side Swindon Town. It was the first time Bogle had moved away from home but the move was made easier by the welcome he received from Derby County Football Club.

He was made to feel welcome and cites Under-18s boss Justin Walker as a huge influence on his career. Fast forward to present day and the youngster is in the first team, two-and-a-half years on from signing for the club.

“It was something I was looking forward to achieving. I didn’t expect it to come so soon but I think I just took the opportunity when it came my way to work under a great manager and player,” he admitted.

Following a couple of starts for the first team, Lampard issued Bogle with a name plaque to the first team dressing room in a team meeting.

“I didn’t expect it,” he said. “I didn’t know anything about it but that just shows what a great character the gaffer is. He has come in and done a great job so far and hopefully it can carry its way through to the end of the season.
