Manager Frank Lampard provided an injury update ahead of Wednesday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Derby suffered a minor injury blow on Saturday evening as midfielder Craig Bryson limped out of the 2-1 win over Sheffield United in the first half.

The manager gave an update on Bryson's situation at his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.

“It looks like a small strain on his calf,” he told RamsTV. “It’s hopefully on the small end which is days to a week, rather than weeks, but we’re waiting on a scan later so we’ll have more information on that after the West Brom game, but he will struggle for that one.”

One player who missed out on selection on Saturday was George Evans. The midfielder has missed two months of the season after picking up a knee injury in the 2-0 win at home to Ipswich Town in August.

However, the 23-year-old has been in full training over the international break but suffered a minor issue towards the back end of last week.

“He had a little issue which wasn’t his knee at the end of last week so that held him back a couple of days,” Lampard explained. “He was out on his own training today but he’ll be back this week.”

A man full of confidence at the moment is Jack Marriott. The striker has had to be patient since signing for the club in the summer from Sky Bet League One side Peterborough United.

He was limited to mainly substitute appearances as he built up his fitness in the early weeks of the campaign, but he has netted twice in as many games and has three goals in all competitions - and taken his chance to shine.

“Jack Marriott scoring goals is for me a combination of the hard work he puts in day in, day out,” said the manager. “He came here with a lot of talent, that’s why we brought him here. He came at a difficult period in pre-season having missed some work.

“He needed fitness and needed to feel the team and the way I wanted to play and he’s done that. The rest is all him and his hard work having taken all that on board.

“Thankfully it’s paid off in the last few games for him. It’s testament to him and the challenge now is can you keep doing it more and more.”
