U23s Looking To Bounce Back Against Liverpool

Derby County Under-23s continue a busy week of Premier League 2 Division 1 action when they take on Liverpool on Friday at the Training Centre in partnership with University of Derby, kick-off 2pm.

It will be the second fixture for Darren Wassall’s side this week following a trip to face Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night.

Cameron Cresswell scored his fifth goal in three games to pull a goal back in the final minute, however the Rams fell 2-1 to the Seagulls in a battle between the second and third placed teams in the league.

THE STORY SO FAR…

With four league games remaining, the Rams sit third in the table behind Everton and Brighton following nine victories, two draws and seven defeats. Liverpool are four points behind Derby in fifth.

The last time these teams met, Louie Sibley fired in a last-minute winner to seal all three points for the Rams on the road in a five-goal thriller.

Matty Virtue gave the reds the lead in the first-half before Calum Macdonald found the equaliser and Jacob Butterfield extended the Rams’ lead. Liam Miller then drew level for Liverpool with just more than ten minutes remaining before Sibley sealed the victory.
