Derby County have added to their attacking options by completing the loan signing of Jamie Paterson.
The 27-year-old attacker has joined Derby on a season-long loan deal from fellow Sky Bet Championship rivals Bristol City.
Paterson has more than 300 career appearances to his name and can play in various attacking roles, either out wide or from a central position.
Manager Phillip Cocu said: “Jamie is a versatile attacker and has significant experience at Championship level.
“Being able to play in various attacking positions is something which is important and he gives us another option in the final third.”
Paterson, born in Coventry, began his playing career at Walsall and made his professional debut for the Saddlers in 2010.
After three full seasons in Walsall’s first-team set-up, racking up just over 100 appearances and scoring 16 goals, his form began to attract interest from clubs further up the EFL ladder.
Paterson moved to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2013, for a reported fee of just over £1 million and made 69 appearances for the Reds, scoring 15 times.
He spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town before leaving the City Ground on a permanent basis in August 2016 to join Bristol City.
During his time at Ashton Gate he has made 114 appearances, scoring 16 goals, and played a key role as the Robins reached the Semi-Final stage of the Carabao Cup in the 2017/18 campaign.
Paterson, who scored for Lee Johnson’s side against Derby at Pride Park Stadium last season as the sides played out a 1-1 draw, came off the bench for his parent club in their opening day defeat to Leeds United last weekend.
In total, Paterson has made 321 career appearances and found the back of the net on 55 occasions.
