Cocu Challenges Rams To Take Positive Feeling Into Birmingham Clash

Phillip Cocu has stressed the importance of Derby County channelling all of their positive energy into this weekend’s home fixture against Birmingham City.

The Rams will take on Pep Clotet’s side at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday (28th September, 3pm kick-off) in their latest Sky Bet Championship fixture.

Derby head into the game against the Blues looking for their first home win of the season, having recorded three draws and a single defeat from four matches so far.

The Rams will return to action on home turf after claiming a dramatic late equaliser in their 1-1 draw at leader leaders Leeds United on Saturday.

Chris Martin came off the bench to score the equaliser in added time and Cocu wants his side to build on the positive feeling amongst the squad in the dressing room following the final whistle at Elland Road.

He told RamsTV: “I think to get the result late on was a boost for us and when everyone came into the dressing room you could feel the energy and the atmosphere amongst the players.

“It was great to see. When we finished talking in the dressing room, I told the players that we must step up for the next home game to get the three points.

“It is important for us now to take the positive vibes into the game against Birmingham, which will be a tough match.

“We want to get that first home win for our supporters, and we will do our best to make that happen.”
