Derby County's Jack Marriott is in the running for the Sky Bet Championship’s ‘Goal of the Month’ award for August.

The striker, who turned 25 last week, netted his first goal of the campaign in spectacular fashion against Bristol City at Pride Park Stadium.

Marriott came off the bench to set up a grandstand finish in the 2-1 defeat against Lee Johnson’s side last month.

Latching onto a pass from wideman Florian Jozefzoon, Marriott turned sharply inside the box to thunder a left-foot strike into the top corner.

The three-player shortlist for the Championship, announced by the EFL’s title sponsor Sky Bet this morning, sees Marriott up against Reading’s George Puscas and Barnsley’s Cauley Woodrow for the August accolade.

In describing Marriott’s goal, Sky Bet stated: “A goal of stunning simplicity from a player who knew what he was going to do before the ball came to him. A deft flick with his right foot, a pivot and an arrowhead of a rising finish.”

Voting is now open on SkySports.com to vote for the Goal of the Month, with the deadline set at 5pm on Tuesday 17th September.

All winners will be announced on Friday 20th September.

The winners of the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month, with the shortlists for League 1 and League 2 also revealed today, are chosen by a fan poll on SkySports.com.

The shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet Sponsorship Executive Matt Goodwin and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.
