Derby County Under-23s’ Premier League Cup opponents have been confirmed for the group stage of the 2019/20 competition.


Darren Wassall’s side have been drawn in Group H and will face Birmingham City, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in home and away fixtures.

After storming to the top of their group last season, the Rams defeated Wolves 2-1 in the round of 16 at Pride Park Stadium to reach the quarter-finals.

The Rams fought back from 2-0 against Newcastle United in the quarter-final with goals from Calum Macdonald and Josh Shonibare to force a 2-2 draw and extra time. However, the Magpies added another to move on to the semi-finals with a 3-2 victory.

Leeds reached the semi-final of the competition last season, also tasting defeat to Newcastle, while Birmingham were knocked out at the group stage after finishing third int their group.
