Derby County return to Sky Bet Championship action under the Pride Park Stadium floodlights against Wigan Athletic on Wednesday evening (7:45pm kick-off).

Phillip Cocu’s side were beaten 3-0 at Charlton Athletic on Saturday, their first defeat in five matches, but have won their last two outings on home turf against Birmingham City and Luton Town.

Here, dcfc.co.uk has gathered all the information you will need ahead of the clash with Paul Cook’s Latics outfit.

TEAM NEWS…

Phillip Cocu would appear to have no fresh injuries to report ahead of the clash against the Latics, but he could be tempted to make changes following the defeat at Charlton at the weekend.

Striker Jack Marriott has recovered from a minor muscle injury and is back in training, so his fitness will be assessed in the lead-up to kick-off having missed the Rams’ last three games.

Tom Huddlestone (hamstring), Richard Keogh (knee) and Ikechi Anya (calf) remain out of action due to injury, while Craig Forsyth and George Evans are continuing to build up their match sharpness with the Under-23s after spells out of action.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS…

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the clash, Specialist First Team Coach Liam Rosenoir said: “Our job, amongst all the emotion, it is easy to get angry and point fingers after a game, but we need to analyse and think how we can improve.

“That is why I am here, so we improve not just over a week or two weeks, but over a year or two years to get us to where we want to be.

“The most important thing now is that we learn from our mistakes. We learn from the fact that we can’t go away from home and give a team a one goal lead, you can’t come out after half time and give a poor goal from a set play away.

“You look at the games we have been in and we have been the better team in a lot of games this season and we have got a real chance against Wigan to put things right.”

He added: “Pride Park has been a good place in terms of the back-to-back wins we got before the international break.

“I think it has been a good place in terms of our performances in general and I think we have deserved to win a lot more games at home, even the run before we won our first game against Birmingham last month.

“Against West Bromwich Albion, we were the better team and should have won the game. We need to know that we are in good form at home and we need to take the game to Wigan on Wednesday.”
