It turned out to be a good night for Derby County’s fyoungsters who represented their respective countries on Tuesday.

Both Jayden Bogle and Jason Knight found themselves on the winning sides for their nations and both played a key role in their victories.

Bogle played 84 minutes for England Under-20s in their 3-0 win over Iceland Under-20s before he was replaced by Chelsea’s Tariq Lamptey.

Second half goals from Reading’s Danny Loader and a brace from Manchester City’s Ian Poveda-Ocampo ensured the England Under-20s finished the year in emphatic fashion at Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park.

Meanwhile, Knight starred for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s as they kept their hopes of qualifying for Under-21 European Championships firmly in their grasp.

And they had to be on top form to beat Sweden Under-21s who did take a one-goal lead going into the half time break.

However, four second half goals ensured Ireland sit top of their qualification group with 16 points from seven games so far.

Goals from Lee O’Connor, Adam Idah, Troy Parrott and Zach Elbouzedi ensured an emphatic 4-1 victory over fourth-placed Sweden.

Knight, who has featured nine times for the Rams this season, was replaced by Aiden Keena in added time.

Elsewhere Krystian Bielik was an unused substitute for Poland in their 3-2 victory over Slovenia with qualification already secured for the 2020 European Championships, whilst Graeme Shinnie was on the bench and also unused for Scotland’s 3-1 win against Kazakhstan in their final 2020 European Championships qualifier ahead of their play-off campaign in March.
