Derby County duo Jason Knight and Jahmal Hector-Ingram have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month Award for October.

The Under-23s starlets’ stand-out performances during the month have helped Darren Wassall’s side move to the top of the Premier League 2 - Division 1 table and extend an unbeaten league run to eight games.

After signing ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, striker Hector-Ingram has made an instant impact in the Under-23s side by scoring five times and adding two assists in his 10 starts.

Meanwhile, it has been a breakthrough season for 18-year-old midfielder Knight having made his senior debut, full debut and league debut already under manager Phillip Cocu this season.

His 10 senior appearances have limited his time in the Under-23s, but he has made an impact in two starts, both coming in October. He assisted Hector-Ingram to score in the 4-1 home victory over Everton, before bagging both goals in a 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

Other players to be nominated are Largie Ramazani from Manchester United, Callum Wright from Leicester City, Swansea City’s Josh Thomas ad West Ham United’s Anthony Scully and Nathan Holland.

The shortlist is decided by the League’s Football Developmental Panel after club coaches nominated the best performance by an opposing player in each of their Premier League 2 matches.

The winner, also selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, will be revealed on Friday 8th November.
