Five-time Premier League winner and four-time England Player of the Year, Wayne Rooney, captains Derby County on his debut this evening against Barnsley at Pride Park Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship (7:45pm kick-off).


Rooney, who is England and Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer, was registered as a player yesterday on a contract until the summer of 2021.

The 34-year-old has been training with the Rams since his departure from DC United at the end of October.

Rooney is the only enforced change for Derby as he replaces Krystian Bielik, who serves the first of his three-match ban following his sending-off against Charlton Athletic on Monday.

On the bench, Jayden Bogle returns after missing the win over Charlton with an eye infection.
