Derby County will face Premier League giants Manchester United in the Fifth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Phillip Cocu’s side will welcome the 12-times winners of the competition to Pride Park Stadium early next month.

The Rams booked their passage into the Fifth Round with a 4-2 victory over Sky Bet League 2 side Northampton Town in a Fourth Round replay at Pride Park on Tuesday night.

Andre Wisdom, Duane Holmes, Jack Marriott and Wayne Rooney got the goals for the Rams against Keith Curle’s side.

The game will see Derby skipper Rooney come up against his former club. The 34-year-old played 559 times for United between 2004 and 2017 and is their all-time leading goalscorer with 253 goals in all competitions.

Another member of the Derby squad, forward Tom Lawrence, has connections with United after he came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

The last meeting between the clubs saw Derby memorably defeat United in the Carabao Cup Third Round in September 2018 at Old Trafford on penalties, following a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.

The last FA Cup meeting between the clubs came at Pride Park in the 2015/16 campaign, with Rooney scoring in a 3-1 victory for United.

This season's FA Cup Fifth Round will take place in midweek during the week commencing Monday 2nd March, with any ties that are level after 90 minutes progressing to extra time and, if necessary, penalties to determine a winner on the night.

The match date and ticket information will be communicated to supporters across dcfc.co.uk and the club’s digital channels in due course.
