Derby County’s Tom Lawrence is in the running for Goal of the Month award for February in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Wales international forward netted the opening goal in the Rams' 1-1 against Huddersfield Town at Pride Park Stadium midway through the month in spectacular fashion.

After the Rams played a short corner down the right the ball was played to Lawrence on the edge of the box by Graeme Shinnie - and he unleashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner with his right foot to put Derby ahead, giving Terriers goalkeeper Jonas Lossl no chance.

Lawrence’s strike is now up for the monthly award and has been nominated alongside Ollie Watkins’ strike for Brentford against Blackburn Rovers and Kieffer Moore’s effort for Wigan Athletic against Reading.

Lawrence has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Derby this season, scoring nine times, and has been in excellent form since the turn of the year.

The winners of the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month are chosen by a fan poll on skysports.com.

The shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, Sky Bet Sponsorship Executive Matt Goodwin and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.

Voting will take place on SkySports.com and will run until 4pm on Friday 20th March 2020.
