Whilst circumstances have meant there’s been no live football to enjoy over the last three months, dcfc.co.uk has been delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

We've been providing an image for supporters to enjoy and reminisce on each day.

With Derby set to return to action this weekend, behind-closed-doors away at Millwall, today is the latest day of the current 'Snapshot In Time' series.

Sturridge On Target As Derby Claim All Three Points Against Everton At Pride Park Stadium

Pictured here is former Derby County striker Dean Sturridge celebrating his first goal of the 1997/98 campaign in the Rams’ 3-1 home win over Everton in September 1997.

Sturridge, after netting 14 goals in the previous campaign after Derby’s return to the top-flight, found the back of the net against the Toffees to get his campaign up and running.

The frontman went on to net 10 goals during the season and his goal against Everton was his first of the campaign and his first since the Rams had moved to Pride Park Stadium in the summer of 1997.

Jonathan Hunt had given Derby the lead against the Toffees midway through the first half, only for Graham Stuart to equalise soon afterwards for the visitors.

Chris Powell restored the Rams’ lead just after the half-hour mark and Sturridge went on to complete the scoring in the second half.

Everton had defender Andy Hinchcliffe sent off midway through the second half as Derby cruised to victory.

Derby finished the 1997/98 season in 9th place in the Premiership table under former manager and the late Jim Smith.
