Derby County have signed free agent Emmanuel Idem to strengthen their goalkeeping department, subject to EFL clearance.

The 21-year-old, previously on the books at the likes of Arsenal, Stoke City, Aston Villa and West Ham United, has signed a one-year deal until the summer of 2021.

Idem, who had a loan spell at Macclesfield Town in the 2018/19 campaign and a stint at non-league side Canvey Island last season, has spent time training with Derby’s goalkeepers in recent weeks.

The shot-stopper will continue his development under the guidance of Head Goalkeeping Coach Shay Given and aim to get match time in Derby’s Under-23 side in Premier League 2 - Division 1.

He will also provide cover for the Rams’ first-team goalkeepers David Marshall, Kelle Roos and Henrich Ravas.
