Derby County Academy striker Lennon Wheeldon has joined South Shields on loan.
The 19-year-old has linked up with the National League North side for the remainder of November to gain senior match experience at a competitive level.
Wheeldon has played ten games and scored twice for the Under-21s this term, as well as netting twice in three outings for the B Team.
The Academy graduate joined Derby from Notts County as an Under-16s player and has since progressed through the ranks, being a regular at Under-21 level in recent years.
Wheeldon made his senior debut in November 2023 when he was brought on as a substitute in the Rams' EFL Trophy Group Stage victory over Wolves Under-21s.
He also had a short loan spell at National League side Boston United in the 2024/25 season and also came off the bench for the first team in a 1-0 loss at Swansea City in April 2025, in addition to being an unused substitute on six occasions.
Wheeldon has been in-and-around the first-team set-up this season and came off the bench in the Carabao Cup Round One tie at West Bromwich Albion in August.
Wheeldon was also called up to the England Under-19 squad for the first time early in the 2024/25 season.
