Derby County midfielder Jason Knight has been selected in the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad ahead of their UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifying fixtures.

The 19-year-old earned his first cap for the senior squad in a UEFA Nations League fixture against Finland last month but has reverted back to the Under-21s for two crucial games which could secure their qualification for next summer’s competition.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21s currently sit second in their league standings, level on points with top-placed side Italy, and know two wins will secure their passage to next year’s tournament.

Jim Crawford’s side will face Iceland on Sunday 15th November (12:30pm kick off) in Dublin, whilst three days later, they travel to the Stade rue Henri Dunant to face Luxemburg on Wednesday 18th November (5:30pm kick off).

Knight has been a consistent performer for the Rams so far this season and is yet to miss a second of the action. He has made 13 appearances in all competitions and has scored one goal which came against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup Second Round.
