The Football Association has provided an update on its process to recruit a new FA Chair, following the resignation of Greg Clarke.

The formal recruitment process will follow the principles set out in The FA’s Football Leadership Diversity Code, with hiring based on merit from a diverse talent pool.

The FA Board has set up a selection panel of six members, including three members who are independent from The FA, to oversee the process and to identify the candidate who has the necessary character, skills and experience to be successful in the role.

Derby County’s Specialist First Team Coach Liam Rosenior, who also sits on the FA’s Inclusion Advisory Board, is one of the six panel members.

The members of the selection panel are as follows:

* Stacey Cartwright, Chair of the selection panel [Independent]

* Peter McCormick OBE, interim FA Chair

* Rupinder Bains

* Jack Pearce

* Liam Rosenior [Independent]

* Kate Tinsley [Independent]

The role will be advertised in early December and remain open for four weeks before the shortlisting process begins. The intention is to complete the recruitment process and make an appointment by Spring 2021.

To date, over 20 search firms have already expressed an interest in leading the recruitment for the role. The FA will decide on who they partner within the next two weeks ahead of the advert going live.

Stacey Cartwright, Chair of the selection panel and Independent Non-Executive Director for The FA, said: "I’m incredibly proud to lead the selection panel for the new Chair of the Football Association. I believe we have selected a panel that reflects the modern-day FA and the wider game.

"This is a pivotal moment for the organisation as we search to find the best person to help to continue to drive The FA forward."

Liam Rosenior, selection panel member, said: "It’s an absolute honour to be asked to be part of the panel to recruit the new Chair of the Football Association. I am truly humbled and really looking forward to being involved in making an appointment that is so important to our game."
