Derby County Under-23s Goalkeeper Bradley Foster is keen to continue to take his opportunities when he gets them.

Foster is in his first season as a permanent member of the Under-23s and has made three appearances so far this term for Pat Lyons’ side.

The keeper’s first start of the season came in the Rams’ 2-1 victory over Leicester City, which saw him make a superb save from the penalty spot in the opening minutes of the game.

Speaking to RamsTV, Foster spoke of how the Leicester game kick-started his season: “To start with, I was not really getting a game. But I got my opportunity against Leicester and I thought that I had a good game.

“I then got the chance to build on that, which is a positive for me. I progressed in the game against Tottenham Hotspur, where I thought I played well. I have just got to take my opportunities when I get them and perform as well as I can.”

Foster also touched on his recent opportunities to train with the first team, stating: “Shay Given always likes to have four keepers in training, so I've had the opportunity to go down with the first team.

“It has been a big step up for me. It is certainly noticeable the change in speed, the pace and the quality but it is all part of the learning experience.”

The 19-year-old joined Derby in 2018 as a scholar and played an integral part in the Under-19s’ UEFA Youth League run last season, making six appearances in the competition.

On his targets for the rest of the season, the shot-stopper said: “I want to carry on training with the first team - the quality down there is just going to make me a better player. I also just want to play as much as I can.”

Foster will hope to maintain his impressive form on Friday night when the Under-23s visit Arsenal, as they look to remain at the top of the Premier League 2 – Division 1 table (7pm kick-off).
