Derby County’s pre-season schedule ahead of the 2021/22 Sky Bet Championship season is taking shape.

Wayne Rooney’s side will return for pre-season training in early July to begin their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

The squad will spend the early part of the build-up to the season at Moor Farm Training Ground but will also take in a change of scenery at a training camp elsewhere in England in mid-July.

Rooney’s side are set to play two matches at Pride Park Stadium, currently planned for Sunday 18th July and Wednesday 28th July. The club is finalising details with the proposed opponents and will communicate full details at the earliest opportunity.

Derby will travel to Sky Bet League 2 side Salford City for a friendly fixture on Saturday 24th July (3pm kick-off).

Salford are managed by former Rams Academy coach Gary Bowyer, who was handed the job on a permanent basis in May following an impressive short-term spell towards the end of last season.

Salford are preparing for their third season in the EFL and narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs last term.

Derby’s games programme ahead of the new season will conclude on Sunday 1st August (1pm kick-off) across the East Midlands at Meadow Lane against Notts County.

The Magpies missed out on promotion from the National League via play-offs in 2020/21 and were beaten by Torquay United at the semi-final stage last weekend.
