It is time to show that “We Are Derby” for the 2021/22 season.
Derby County’s brand new Umbro home kit was exclusively revealed on the official Derby County TikTok account on Friday 16th July - and it is on sale now online at dcfcmegastore.co.uk.
The DCFCMegastore is now operated by Fanatics, a global leader in licensed sports merchandise, and opening hours are 9am-5pm from Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
Derby’s new home kit is once again produced by Umbro to create a local accent, further reinforcing the bond between the club, supporters and brand, and includes a flash of dark blue to compliment the black and white of the Rams.
The addition of dark blue to the home kit is a tribute to the team who won the 1971/72 First Division title for the first time in the club’s history.
The Rams started that season wearing traditional black and white shirts matched with blue shorts, and then changed to white shirts with blue shorts as then manager, Brian Clough insisted that the team donned a kit that resembled the blue and white of the England national side.
Clough’s side, who were only promoted to the top-flight in 1969, went on to lift the title after a superb season.
It will be 50 years since that achievement towards the end of upcoming campaign and the club wanted to honour the 1971/72 side to mark the anniversary in the new season’s kit.
Here’s a little more information about Derby’s 2021/22 home kit:
Shirt: Taking Derby’s crisp white iconic colouring to inspire the new season jersey, a knitted pique striped front adds depth and complements the solid white sleeves with black asymmetric tipping at the collar and cuffs. Features include a stylized white rib V neckline with black collar insert, raised rubber effect crest, stacked diamond, dropped back hem and official licensed label to the side seam.
Shorts: The black home shorts also display white contrast tipping to the side panel detail, as well as a contrast raised rubber effect crest with internal drawcords and elasticated waistband.
Socks: The white home socks, with black contrast hoop detail, also include ‘DCFC’ wording on the back and stacked jacquard diamond. The socks have a cotton footbed and instep cool zone technology.
Derby County are also proud to announce that the club will continue to work with Umbro as its Technical Supplier until at least the end on the 2024/25 season in an extended deal.
This will continue to see Umbro produce all of Derby’s kits for the first-team, Academy and Women’s sides, as well as replica kits for supporters to purchase, along with trainingwear.
Sam Lucas, Umbro’s Director of Sports Marketing, said: “We’re delighted to extend our longstanding partnership with Derby County and are excited to work alongside Fanatics as we head towards this exciting period of launching the new season’s kits.
“Umbro and Derby County have enjoyed historical relationships in the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s and now with this most recent collaborative partnership we’re keen to keep that going, creating more lasting memories for the Rams supporters.”
The front of the Rams’ shirts will again feature32Red, who enter the fourth season of their agreement as Derby’s principal shirt sponsor with the key message: ‘Set your limits’.
Neil Banbury, 32Red General Manager - UK, said: “Seeing our logo adorn the kits of players and fans inside Pride Park Stadium continues to be a proud moment for the brand as we enter our fourth season as Derby County’s Principal Partner. We are especially honoured to promote our ‘safer gaming’ messaging as part of our journey towards zero revenue from harmful gambling by 2023 and look forward to another successful season together."
This season will also see leading consumer payment provider ‘humm’ feature as the back of shirt and shorts partner on the shirts of Derby’s first-team players throughout the 2021/22 campaign.
