Derby County’s Louie Watson has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for their upcoming matches.

Ireland have two UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers, against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Luxembourg, on their fixture list in the September international window.

Watson, who turned 20 this summer, has three caps to his name at Under-21 level for Ireland while he has recorded four first-team appearances so far this season for Derby.

The midfielder also appeared nine times for the Rams last term after making his debut in last December’s 4-0 win at Birmingham City.
