TEAM NEWS…

Defender Craig Forsyth is to return to the matchday squad after missing the Rams' last three matches owing to illness.

However, goalkeeper Ryan Allsop is also unwell and will not be available for selection so Kelle Roos will again start after returning to the starting XI in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Coventry City.

Midfielder Jason Knight was also absent from the squad for the draw at Coventry with a minor thigh problem. The Republic of Ireland international is set to miss out again this weekend.

Striker Sam Baldock remains a doubt after sitting out the recent draws against Luton Town and Coventry. The striker broke his nose earlier this month at Preston North End but while that is giving no further problems, the frontman has a hamstring issue which could rule him out again.

Another striker, Colin Kazim-Richards, is likeily to feature on the bench once again after returning to the matchday squad for the last three games against Preston, Luton and Coventry. The former Turkey international sustained an achilles injury at Peterborough United in August but still needs to build up his sharpness before being considered to start.

Polish international midfielder Krystian Bielik, who suffered an ACL knee injury in January of this year, is making good progress in his rehabilitation work but is still not yet in a position to return to full training.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS…

Manager Wayne Rooney offered his pre-match views to RamsTV on Thursday afternoon and he said: “There are nine points at stake over this week.

“It’s a big opportunity for us but with difficult games ahead, two out of the three are away, so this weekend against Blackburn at Pride Park is important for us.

“Then we move on to Barnsley and Millwall, which we know will be difficult games but ones we can look forward to.

“We will be ready for them and hopefully we can pick up the points we need.”

On the visit of Blackburn, Rooney added: “It will be a tough game for us as they have good individual players and are hard to play against.

“They can play, they can go long and they have big lads up top. We have to be ready for that and test them with how we play and I think if we do that then we will cause them big problems.”

FROM THE DRESSING ROOM…

Defender Curtis Davies spoke to RamsTV following Derby's Open Training Session at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday to preview the side's final fixture of October.

The centre-back said: “We are unbeaten at home and we want it to continue. It comes from the lads, the comfort of being at home and the support that we have as a team.

“I don’t think you can put it into words because sometimes if it’s not going right, it can be a hard place to play at home because this club has expectations, but we are not at the right end of those expectations at the moment.

“To see us in the situation that we are in, the way that the situation off the pitch has brought the fans, the players, the staff and the whole city together, has become massive.

“We see the numbers that come to Pride Park and turn up away from home and we appreciate them and I think they appreciate us in the effort that we give.

“At the same time, we still want to get results. We value the support even if we are doing well or not but we want to get a big win at the weekend and push up that table again.”

He added: “It’s so important that fans turn up in their numbers and support us. You can see the difference in the fact that the way that the support is compared to previous years, the positivity that we’ve got has taken us to a different level and we are thankful for that and want to keep it going.”

MATCH OFFICIALS…

Stephen Martin will oversee Saturday's game at Pride Park.

Martin has overseen 12 games so far this season in all competitions, showing 36 yellow cards and one red in the process.

He last oversaw a Derby fixture in April of this year as Wayne Rooney's side tasted a 2-1 loss at this weekend's opponents.

Martin will be assisted by Mark Russell and Matthew Jones on the lines, whilst Tom Nield has been appointed as the fourth official.

EFL SUBSTITUTE RULES…

The five substitutions rule has been scrapped for the 2021/22 season, the English Football League confirmed in July.

The rule allowing clubs to make five changes, as opposed to the usual three, was brought in following football's restart in June 2020 after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that games had to be condensed into a short period of time it was thought beneficial and allowed managers to make as many as five changes in three intervals during a match.

Clubs had a longer post-break between seasons this time around and so the temporary rule has been changed.

Teams will be able to name seven substitutes but only use a maximum of three.

STREAMING INFORMATION…

With COVID-19 capacity restrictions lifted and EFL fixtures being played in front of full crowds once again, the temporary change in streaming rules is no longer valid.
