Derby County’s Ravel Morrison claimed his seventh international cap for Jamaica as they were beaten 2-1 by Mexico in the early hours of Friday morning.

Midfielder Morrison was named in the starting line-up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier, which was played at Independence Park in Kingston, and completed the full 90 minutes.

Jamaica, who had Inter Miami’s Damion Lowe sent off just before half-time, opened the scoring five minutes into the second half through Preston North End’s Daniel Johnson.

However, Mexico scored two late goals through Henry Martin of Club America and Guadalajara’s Alexis Vega to turn the game on its head and claim all three points.

The ‘Reggae Boyz’ remain in sixth in the CONCACAF qualification table despite the defeat and are seven points off a play-off place.

Jamaica will travel to Estadio Rommel Fernández to face Panama in their next qualifier on Sunday 30th January (11:05pm kick-off GMT), before returning to Kingston on Thursday 3rd February to host Costa Rica (00:00am kick off GMT).

Morrison has made 23 appearances for Derby this season, scoring one goal, after signing as a free agent in August.
