Derby County captain Tom Lawrence has been nominated for the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award for January.

Lawrence has earned himself a second nomination this season following several stand-out performances in the first month of the calendar year.

The forward, who turned 28 during the month, made four league appearances in January and weighed in with three goals.

His outstanding double earned Derby all three points in the 2-0 home win over Sheffield United at the midway stage of the month.

Lawrence also scored from the penalty spot as the Rams were beaten 2-1 at the City Ground by Nottingham Forest the following week.

The versatile attacker also contributed by playing a role in Krystian Bielik’s dramatic equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Birmingham City at the end of the month, with his free-kick into the box headed into Bielik’s path by defender Richard Stearman as the Rams earned a late point.

Lawrence has been nominated for the award alongside Darragh Lenihan (Blackburn Rovers), Emil Riis Jakobsen (Preston North End), Chris Willock (QPR), Harry Wilson and Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham) as the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month awards continue to celebrate the English game's very best on and off the football pitch.
