Defender Lee Buchanan has left Derby County to sign for German side Werder Bremen.

The Bundesliga outfit have accepted that the player was not a free transfer and Derby are due full training compensation entitlement under FIFA Regulations.

Buchanan, a graduate of the Rams’ Academy, leaves the club after making 75 appearances in all competitions following his debut at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The 21-year-old scored his only goal for the Rams on his senior debut in a 1-0 Carabao Cup Round One success at Scunthorpe United in August 2019.

Derby County wishes Lee every success in the future and would also like to thank him for his efforts whilst representing the club.
