In the lead-up to the game getting underway, dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you need to know…

Team News

Interim Manager Liam Rosenior could shuffle his pack for the clash with Nigel Clough’s League Two outfit as he looks to get more match minutes into players across the first-team squad. Louie Sibley, who has impressed coming off the bench in Derby’s opening two League One fixtures against Oxford United and Charlton Athletic is in line to start, as is recent loan signing from Everton Lewis Dobbin.

Striker David McGoldrick and defender James Chester missed the matches against Oxford and Charlton due to injury and will continue to have their situations monitored to determine if they will be available for selection.

Coaching Staff Views

Jake Buxton has been supporting Interim Manager Liam Rosenior and the rest of his coaching team since the start of pre-season training in July and the former Derby defender caught up with RamsTV to look ahead to the clash with the Stags.

Buxton began his playing career with Mansfield and was also brought to Derby by now Stags boss Nigel Clough, so the cup clash certainly carries plenty of historical links for the 37-year-old.

He said: "We want to win the game and we’ve got an eye on Barnsley as well at the weekend. The manager has put a squad together which is capable of making changes and freshening things up and make sure that we put in a good account of ourselves and make sure we play in the same style of play which we have tried to embed throughout pre-season. You saw on Saturday at Charlton that when we get that right, we create numerous amounts of chances and we intend to do that again."

From The Dressing Room

Defender Richard Stearman spoke to RamsTV to look ahead to Tuesday night's clash against the Stags.

He said: "It can be a tricky game if we don’t approach it in the right manner. It’s a chance for the manager to take a look at a couple of other players, rotate or get boys minutes that need minutes or vice versa. With it being a local team, it’s going to be a bit spicy which will be enjoyable for the fans, I’m sure. It is a tie that the manager wants to win so it will be an interesting match and one we are excited about."

About The Opposition

Mansfield Town, managed by former Derby boss Nigel Clough, are one of the favourites to gain promotion from League Two this season.

Clough oversaw a superb run of form last term as the Stags went from being in the bottom two in October, with several key players missing due to injury, to forcing themselves into the promotion picture.

Mansfield reached the League Two Play-Off Final back in May but were beaten 3-0 by Port Vale at Wembley Stadium on an afternoon to forget in the capital. However, there were many positives to build on moving forward for Clough and the rest of his coaching staff.

With a few tweaks to the Stags’ squad, Mansfield are expected to be in the promotion shake-up once more and after a 2-0 loss at Salford City on the opening day of the campaign, they defeated Tranmere Rovers 1-0 on home turf at the weekend.

Rhys Oates was their leading marksman last term with ten goals and the former Hartlepool United frontman offers a serious attacking threat, while the towering Jordan Bowery is another key part of their attacking armoury.

The additions of Hiram Boateng from MK Dons, Scott Flinders from Cheltenham Town and Anthony Hartigan from AFC Wimbledon have been shrewd additions to the Stags’ squad in recent months, while Nottingham Forest duo Will Swan and Riley Harbottle and Christy Pym of Peterborough United have all arrived on loan.
