Derby County striker David McGoldrick scored his second hat-trick of the season in the 4-0 home win over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday in the side's final Sky Bet League One outing before Christmas.

The veteran forward had never scored a hat-trick in his career before this season and has now scored two within his first few months with the Rams, after hitting a treble in the 4-2 home success over Bristol Rovers back in October.

Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, he spoke of his goalscoring form, enjoying his football and the ambition to now stay in the top six.

On his two hat-tricks...

I am just as delighted as the last one to get this one. As a striker scoring goals, there's no better feeling. We scored four last time against Bristol Rovers and we scored four today but this time with a clean-sheet, so it's even better.

On enjoying his football...

It was a slow start for me with little injuries here and there but I'm getting fitter now and my confidence is growing. I'm enjoying it out there and scoring goals is what every striker loves to do and, more importantly, winning. We're a really tough team to beat at the minute and we've got to turn some of those draws into wins - and that's what we did today.

On his hat-trick goal...

I thought the header was creeping in but then when it came off the post I knew it was coming straight back to me. They were all left footed goals too which is an odd one but buzzing with the hat-trick either way.

On words said at half-time...

It's weird because we were 2-0 up at half-time but we weren't happy, we had a little go at each other in the dressing room. They had a chance that could have made it 2-1 and it would have been a completely different game, so we had a little rocket at half-time.

We started the second-half like it was 0-0 and went out to get more goals and did that and luckily rounded off.

On the substitutes...

Knighty is brilliant. Like many of the boys in this team, they shouldn't be in this league. To have him, Lewis Dobbin and Will Osula coming on - young boys but with amazing careers ahead of them. Knighty has come on and set me up, Lewis has come on had a chance and set me up and Will is a powerhouse. It's great to have these options.

We've got Curtis Davies and Liam Thompson coming on and James Chester coming back from injury soon. January is coming so the gaffer will want to bring in some players. It's very healthy at the minute with everyone pushing each other so let's hope it keeps that way.

On being in the top six...

It's good but we don't want to come out of there now, we want to stay there. A club like Derby County, we can't slip out. We need to make every home game relentless and go away from home with the same mentality.
