Post-Match Verdict: Paul Warne Vs Burton Albion (A)

Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne was disappointed that his side weren't able to hold on and claim all three points from their 1-1 draw at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The Rams went in front through James Collins in the opening 45 minutes but a second-half equaliser from Victor Adeboyejo ensured the points were shared in the Sky Bet League One fixture.

Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, Warne reflected on a game he felt his team deserved more from.

On the performance...

I thought in the first-half we were very good and we didn't get the second goal I thought that our play deserved.

It doesn't matter where you go, whilst it's 1-0 you're always under pressure that something is going to happen. They threw everything into the box and fair play to them they made it difficult, but I thought we defended them really well for the most part. I'm disappointed though as it feels like it's two points thrown away.

We changed the system to try and give a bit more organisation with Curtis Davies out there but I still thought we had enough chances to win it.

It's hard to do an interview straight afterwards because you're quite emotional so I need to watch the match back before I say something I regret, but I thought it was just about the second goal. We created enough opportunities to do that and we didn't.

I can't be too critical of the lads because generally speaking they played as I want them to play, but I just thought we had a 10-minute spell in the second-half where we went back-to-front a bit too quick. Apart from that it wasn't a bad performance, an away from home performance but one I still felt we deserved three points from.

On creating chances...

I feel like we lack something. I can't put my finger on it but it's just some little bit of magic that we miss.

The overall play, the work ethic and the defending set-pieces generally speaking was very good but we defended a lot today.

There weresome really good performances. I thought Sibs played really well in the first-half and I didn't take him off for any other reason than they kept playing diagonals and targeting the fact that he may be not as good in the air.

I stand here full of disappointment really. I appreciate the support from the fans and it's a shame they couldn't see us win.

On James Collins' goal...

I'm really pleased with Conor Hourihane's cross for it because sometimes I feel like we turn down the opportunity to cross - but we didn't and he put it in and that's what Collo wants.

On the unbeaten run...

It's good but I can positively spin anything. I'm just frustrated that it's a game we should have won so when I go to bed tonight I won't console myself with the fact we're 11 matches unbeaten, I'll be frustrated with the fact it's an opportunity missed because I thought we were the better team.

I'm biased because I'm the Derby County Head Coach but I can see the Burton manager doing his press whilst I am doing this interview and he looks a lot happier than I do. The good thing is the lads are as disappointed as me; we've got a dressing room desperate for success.

On the return to Pride Park Stadium next week against Forest Green Rovers...

We've got a few games coming up. If we can pick up some points in this month, it will take us into the New Year in good fettle. A few changes here and there will help, hopefully, in January but the lads aren't far off. We're not far off.
