Defender Craig Forsyth believes Derby County showed a different side to their game in their dramatic 2-1 victory at Port Vale on Tuesday evening.

The Rams had to dig deep to mount a late, late comeback and keep their incredible unbeaten run, which now stands at 19 games in all competitions, going at Vale Park with David McGoldrick and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scoring in the closing stages.

Speaking to RamsTV after the Sky Bet League One clash, Forsyth discussed the result, the side's character and the incredible scenes following the late winner.

On the result...

It was a tough game and we knew it would be coming here. We always knew it was going to be tough but we made it a little bit tougher by giving away a sloppy goal, but we kept going until the end and managed to get the three points.

On falling behind after missing chances...

It makes it very difficult, especially when it's a team that are happy to sit in and soak up the pressure and try and hit us on the break. We've obviously got to try and take chances but after they scored we still created a lot. We managed to get the equaliser and luckily for us there was still enough time to get a winner.

On the character of the side...

The run we've been on as well, we didn't want it to end like this. We've dug in at the end and showed a different side to our game; maybe it was not as pretty on the eye but we still got the result we wanted.

On the unbeaten run...

It's important for the momentum; everybody's confidence is sky high right now. You look at the results and everybody else has won tonight around us, so it's important we keep in touch with everybody.

The fitness levels and the impact the lads off the bench are making is huge as well. All of those that came on tonight made an impact, it's good for everyone to get on and be part of the win.

On the dressing room...

Everyone is buzzing. There's some tired legs as it was a heavy pitch but everyone's got a smile on their face right now.

On the fans...

As always, the away fans were fantastic. They filled the away end and were a massive help shooting towards that end in the second half. The scenes at the end were just incredible.
