Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne was happy with his team's efforts despite falling to a 2-0 defeat against West Ham United in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio sealed the win for the Premier League outfit at Pride Park Stadium and inflicted the first defeat on the Rams in 19 games, a run stretching back to October.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game, the boss reflected on the defeat and gave an update on the status of Max Bird and David McGoldrick.

On the game...

They were a little bit better than us it's fair to say. I asked the lads to not have any regrets and I thought our lads turned up and gave a pretty good display of themselves but so did West Ham.

Fundamentally they are better players than us, quicker players than us and they cut us open on a few occasions but in fairness I thought in the first half we were a little bit unlucky to go in 1-0 down.

I didn't think we got onto second balls as quick as I would like but generally I was really pleased with them and it was disappointing we conceded so early in the second half as it took the gas out of them.

On the attitude of the group...

They are amazing. They should be proud of their efforts and they gave everything so what more can I ask? They are Premier League players for a reason and we are League One players for a reason, as brutal as that sounds.

It isn't like being League One and going to a really tight pitch and it's ugly - it's a Premier League ground here so the West Ham players can come here and express themselves and I think they did that.

I'm disappointed to go out. Manchester United away in the Fifth Round would have been an easy draw - so I bet they are buzzing that we are out of the cup! We had great support and I appreciate everyone that stayed behind and clapped the lads off; it means a lot and hopefully we can bounce back with a win on Saturday against Morecambe.

On the first defeat in 90 minutes since October...

The lads have really bought into what we've brought here. They press the way we want them to press and generally they get what we want. We have a good relationship with them and I feel like they have been in pretty scintillating form and I think in parts tonight we were good, it's just the fact we lost to a better team and there's no shame in that.

They are really professional in everything we do, have a look where we could have done better and prepare for the weekend.

I don't really count this as a defeat really, losing at home to West Ham, there's no shame in that so we'll pretend it didn't happen and continue with us being undefeated in the league for a long while.

On Max Bird...

I'm concerned because I think he's fundamental to our success. He's virtually played every minute since he's been here so he'll be a huge loss. That is always the worry. He's really physically resilient so it's always a concern when he goes down. We'll assess him tomorrow and get him a scan and we'll probably know more in 24/48 hours as to how his groin is.

On David McGoldrick...

He had a problem with his knee and pulled out of training on Saturday He's fine with straight line running but it's a bit much when it comes to kicking a football. Hopefully he will be a better tomorrow and be available for the weekend.
