Derby County winger Tom Barkhuizen says the side's focus now fully turns to the league after the Rams were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup at the Fourth Round stage by West Ham United on Monday evening.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio saw the Premier League side through but Barkhuizen believes the side gave a good account of themselves on the night despite a 2-0 loss.

Speaking to RamsTV after the contest, the winger reflected on the defeat to David Moyes' side.

On the game...

I think we all knew it was going to be a tough game but we more then held our own. Both goals were really soft, but it's not like they tore us to pieces.

We probably didn't have that many chances but it is what it is, we're firmly focused on the league - it's a bonus game playing against a Premier League team in the FA Cup.

On the quality of opposition...

I think you could just tell defensively they were very, very good. They defended their box well and they make it difficult for you. On the break their little one touches, especially in the second half, were things we couldn't really deal with.

In the first half we dominated most of the game and we came in and said if we stop the counter-attack they weren't offering that much. You get into those areas and they are such good defenders that they read the little pass and know where to be.

On the unbeaten run coming to an end...

Since the turn of the new year we've been very good, we've been ruthless and our focus now is on the league. We want to catch that top two, everyone around the club wants to do that and that's firmly our aim.

On moving on from this game...

If we'd have lost to Port Vale last Tuesday night it would have been a lot more deflating than losing to West Ham United.

We're still 14 unbeaten in the league, which is some effort, but we want to make it 24 unbeaten, 30 unbeaten. We know we've got good players, a good set of staff and we're on the right road - I don't think you can really judge us off tonight.
