Derby County goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith says the team are eager to put things right against Oxford United on Saturday following two frustrating results in Sky Bet League One.

The shot-stopper spoke to RamsTV following the disappointing 2-1 defeat away at Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night, despite leading 1-0 at the break thanks to Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's early strike.

The long trip to Devon came days after the 2-2 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town at Pride Park Stadium, and Wildsmith explained that the team are now keen to put the performance at Home Park on the backburner as soon as possible.

On the performance at Plymouth...

We put ourselves in a great position going in at half-time. I think the performance in the first half was really positive and the lads came out of the traps really well. It took them by surprise I think with the work-rate and our ability to break down wide areas and essentially that paid off for us when Nat got through and finished.

In the second half it was clear to see that it wasn't good enough from our part. The level wasn't there to compete with them. They came out all guns blazing and got a goal that got their tails up. It's unfortunate from our side with the deflection and then a penalty decision that at the time I thought was very soft, but I haven't seen it back. Two scenarios that have gone against us in a second half where we didn't have a lot to create for ourselves.

I don't think for all the positive play that they had they really put a lot on us. I didn't have a save to make in the second half, which, for the dominance they had, is frustrating. We feel like we still could have come away with something.

The support was great tonight from the travelling fans and it would have been nice to give them something to take back up the road and for ourselves for the long trip.

On the drop in levels after the break...

I don't think there's too much to read in to. We'll analyse it, look back and see what we could have done better. The boss wears his heart on his sleeve and he gives us the full debrief of what he thinks and we'll take that and move on. It's all about showing that character now and trying to come back and get a good positive result away at Oxford on Saturday. There's more than enough in the dressing room to make that a reality.

On having something to prove at Oxford...

We want to put it right. It's been a frustrating week having been ahead in both games and not getting the full points on offer. We've got something to prove now and I've got all faith in the lads in there that we've got enough to do that.
