Derby County midfielder Liam Thompson has joined National League outfit Scunthorpe United on loan until the end of their 2022/23 campaign.

The 20-year-old has been a regular face in the Rams' first-team squad this season but has been unable to record regular minutes in recent weeks.

The Academy graduate has made 24 appearances in total for the side in this campaign, scoring one goal in that time in the 5-0 FA Cup First Round Replay win over Torquay United at Pride Park Stadium back in November.

Thompson will look to continue his development by getting more minutes under his belt with Scunthorpe between now and the end of the National League season at the end of April, before returning to the Rams.

He also links up with former Derby midfielder Jacob Butterfield, who is a regular for Scunthorpe after signing last summer, at Glanford Park.

Good luck, Tommo!
