Post-Match Verdict: Joe Wildsmith Vs Forest Green Rovers (A)

Derby County goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith says the dressing room was 'delighted' after seeing the side get back to winning ways at Forest Green Rovers on Friday in Sky Bet League One.

Goals from strikers James Collins and David McGoldrick secured a 2-0 win for the Rams to end a run of three straight losses, but Wildsmith and the defence in front of him did their bit too by securing their 20th clean-sheet of the season.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, Wildsmith spoke about that achievement and reflected on the victory as Derby remain well in the hunt for a play-off spot.

On how the lads are feeling in the dressing room...

Everyone is delighted. I think we needed to get a win on the board as soon as possible so it was great to come down here, to a tough place, and put a good performance in and get a good result.

On the boost it gives the team with the early penalty...

It gives the crowd a rise and it sort of killed theirs too. It would have been nice to get a few more goals in the first half but it wasn't to be but we stuck at it in a hard-fought game against a team that like to play and take risks. It was a disciplined performance and a hard-working one and it's great to get the three points.

On David McGoldrick's late goal...

He'll take that all day. It was great to get the second goal as it took a little bit of pressure off in the last few minutes and it was great to get a clean-sheet for the boys at the back.

For Didzy to come and get those sort of numbers, 20 goals, is great but people are putting the ball on a plate for him and people working hard around him that get him those accolades. He's put it on a plate for other people too so it's great to have a player like him in the changing room, his experience and quality will only improve the lads around him.

On James Collins getting on the scoresheet...

It's great to have your strikers both scoring. It gives them confidence and it gives those around them confidence. It's great for both of them to get on a scoresheet after a few games where we haven't scored any. We're back to winning ways, back to scoring and hopefully we'll take that into Monday against MK Dons at Pride Park.

On the clean sheet...

That's 20 for the season in all competitions for the back line and the team in general. It's great to get the clean sheet and we've been working hard for it because I feel like we've been a tad unlucky with some goals we have let in over recent weeks.

On hitting 20 clean sheets...

I'm absolutely delighted. The games I've racked up this season in the first place I'm really proud of and to get the 20 clean sheets along with that is a great personal milestone for me.

On MK Dons on Monday...

I feel like we can put a massive statement down if we get maximum points this weekend and the table will look a lot different, hopefully. It's all to play for and we're excited for the run-in and to hopefully get as many points as possible from the remaining games.
