Curtis Davies’ six-year association with Derby County will come to an end this summer.

The 38-year-old defender, who joined the Rams in the summer of 2017 from Hull City, will depart at the end of his contract next month.

The vastly experienced centre-back racked up 175 appearances in Derby colours during six seasons, scoring on five occasions, after making the switch to Pride Park Stadium.

He also proudly wore the captain’s armband for long spells during that time and claimed the coveted Jack Stamps Player of the Season award for his fine performances in the 2021/22 campaign.

As well as representing Derby County on the pitch with great distinction, Davies also displayed his undoubted leadership and commitment to the cause whilst the Rams faced up to many off-field challenges prior to Clowes Developments (UK) Ltd’s purchase of the club last July.

For that, his contribution will always be remembered and appreciated.

Also departing the club at the end of their contracts, when they formally expire at the end of June, will be James Chester and Richard Stearman.

Defender Chester was limited to seven appearances in the 2022/23 season due to injury after signing last summer, while fellow defender Stearman leaves after making 31 appearances for Derby over the last two seasons.

All departing players leave with Derby County’s very best wishes for the future as well as a heartfelt thanks for their efforts.
