Josh Vickers says it was a 'no brainer' to make the move to Derby County this summer.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper is to join on a three-year deal following the expiration of his contract with Championship side Rotherham United and will be reunited with Head Coach Paul Warne, First Team Goalkeeper Coach Andy Warrington and the rest of the coaching staff that he worked with during his time with the Millers.

Speaking to RamsTV, Vickers was keen to highlight his delight at getting a deal done.

On how it feels after agreeing to be a Derby County player...

It feels really good. As soon as I knew that there was interest then I knew it was a place that I wanted to come and play football.

Derby County is a massive football club and watching them from afar, they have always been at the top end of the football pyramid - so it was a no brainer for me.

On working with Paul Warne again...

I've worked with him for a few years previously and worked with Andy Warrington even before that. They've both been brilliant. As soon as I knew the interest was there from them and the club it was something I really wanted to pursue.

It's really good to have people like them as a player. They make you feel wanted and like they really want you to come and play for them so it was a no brainer.

On knowing what to expect from the staff...

I know the regime, I know the way they work and I know what they want from you. I've probably had my best and most enjoyable football playing under them, so it's a plus side for me as well.

On his relationship with Andy Warrington...

I think all goalkeepers like staying out of the spotlight and he's no different. I've worked with him for five years in total and we work really well together. I think he brings out the best in me, he knows what he wants from me. He may stay quiet and stay in the background but trust me he puts a lot of hard work in.

On moving on from Rotherham...

I enjoyed my time there and have nothing but good things to say about the club. We had some success together, but I just thought it was time for a new challenge.
