Derby County's latest defensive addition Kane Wilson says he is 'over the moon' to be joining what he believes is a 'massive club'.

The 23-year-old right-sider, who can play at full-back or wing-back, has joined the Rams on a two-year deal from Championship outfit Bristol City and will now link up with the rest of the squad at their Training Camp in Spain.

Speaking to RamsTV, Wilson expressed his delight at getting a deal done and how he hopes to excite the Rams faithful in the campaign ahead.

On signing for Derby County...

I'm over the moon. It's something that I've wanted to do for a while so to get it done is brilliant. It feels like a very family-orientated club, everyone seems to know each other and get on well and I can't wait to get amongst it.

On linking up with the lads in Spain...

That's the plan. It looks very tough after seeing what they are up to on Twitter. It looks like they are working hard and I'm looking forward to getting out there.

On his achievements at Forest Green Rovers in 2021/22...

It was a brilliant season, a season where we gained promotion and I managed to get a few awards. It was a season where I got to really get into a rhythm and show what I can do and hopefully I can do that again now at Derby County.

On his 2022/23 season with Bristol City...

It was a contrast really with my season at Forest Green - polar opposites really. It was tough because I had an injury and then wasn't selected. It's tough, it's the worst thing any footballer can face but I've got the bit between my teeth now and I'm ready to go and compete and get into this Derby County team.

On Paul Warne...

He's been brilliant. We had a long hour and a half talk just chatting about everything. He was a really good guy and he hit me as a good character. First impressions to me are massive and he really gave a long standing one so it was something that gave me a lot of thinking.

On what fans should expect from him...

A player that is going to give it their all for the badge. This is a massive club and it's a team that has sold over 20,000 season tickets so the following is huge. I want to replicate how they feel about the club on the pitch.

I'll try and excite the fans, my dribbling is probably my best attribute and going at players and if it works then everyone is a winner because I make them happy and I'm happy myself.

I'll defend and give it my all both ways because I'm predominantly a wing-back but can play full-back and on the other side.

On meeting the rest of the lads...

I'm really excited to meet the rest of the lads. It seems like a good group. Luke McGee, who I played with at Forest Green and was on loan at Derby last season, said it was a good group and I know the core of that group is still here so I'm looking forward to getting in and amongst it and getting to know them.
