Post-Match Verdict: Nelson 'Disappointed' To Not Come Away With Three Points

Derby County defender Curtis Nelson says the dressing room was left feeling 'disappointed and frustrated' that they were unable to come away with three points following their 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon.

Nelson scored the equaliser, his first in a Rams shirt, as Derby came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw on the road but he and the team were left frustrated that it wasn't more.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, the defender gave his verdict on the performance.

On the performance...

It was there in bits. In the second half especially we kind of dominated and we probably could have taken three points which is ultimately what we wanted to do.

On the mood in the dressing room...

We're disappointed and frustrated more than anything. It's the consistency that we're after and we're disappointed that we can't find it. We're taking one step forward and one step back at the moment. We've taken a point but that's a game, regardless of who we are playing, that we need to be backing up with back-to-back wins.

On being six unbeaten...

If we continue being unbeaten and we're at least picking up a point then every point matters in this league.

On his first Derby County goal...

I'm pleased but it's not won us anything or got us anything but it's not about who scores it's about how many we score.

On Tuesday evening's EFL Trophy clash at Notts County...

It's very important for us to go out on a high ahead of the international break. It's massive for us to go unbeaten if we can. If we can do the same between this international break and the next one, we'll take it a block at a time and keep winning and keep picking up points. It will hold us in good stead.

On his partnership with Eiran Cashin in defence...

Cash is brilliant. He's a young lad with bags of energy and bags of ability. He's definitely got what it takes to play at a high level and it's just about making sure that's he's consistent and building a relationship between the two of us is key. As long as we can do our jobs and everyone does their jobs in their different units then that's the main aim for the team.
