Derby County return to Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday evening when they take on Exeter City in Sky Bet League One action (7:45pm kick-off).

The Rams are looking for a positive response following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury Town, their first loss since early September, but face a Grecians team eager for a result themselves after going down 2-0 at home to Wigan Athletic.

In the lead-up to the game getting underway, dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you need to know...

Rams Team News

Right-sided Joe Ward returned to full training last week after two months out with a heel injury and could come into contention.

Left-back Callum Elder is also back in full contact training after undergoing a hernia operation last month and he could also be available for selection.

Midfielder Liam Thompson (quad) is still a way off a return but is progressing well in his rehabilitation work.

Tuesday's match will also come too soon for on-loan Arsenal striker Tyreece John-Jules (quad) though a return to training isn't far away.

Defender Jake Rooney (knee) has undergone surgery on his damaged ACL and will be out of action for a lengthy period of time.

On loan Sunderland midfielder Elliot Embleton has returned to his parent club after injuring his quad in training last month and, after undergoing surgery, is to be out of action for several months.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Head Coach Paul Warne spoke to RamsTV to preview the side's return to Pride Park Stadium for the first time in almost a month on Tuesday evening.

He said: "We need a good performance and we need to start the game well.

"It won't be easy though Exeter outplayed Wigan on Saturday and had something like 30 attempts at goal but the scoreline will say different as they lost 2-0. There's a lot more to the game than just the scoreline."

Skipper Conor Hourihane previewed the midweek fixture under the floodlights when he spoke to RamsTV on Monday morning.

He said: "It's down to the players; the performances and the results. If you want to be successful in any league, you need to put in good performances and results to get the fans on board because that's ultimately how it works."

Match Officials

Sunny Singh Gill will take charge of the midweek game and will be assisted by Ravel Cheosiaua and Christopher Husband.

Mark Jones is on Fourth Official duties for Tuesday evening.

Gill will referee his 14th game of the season in midweek. So far, he's distributed 62 yellow cards, zero straight red cards and awarded two penalties.

Travel Disruption

As a result of the flooding in and around Derbyshire over the last few days, supporters are advised to take extra care on their journey to Pride Park Stadium and also give themselves plenty of time to ensure they arrive in good time for kick-off.

The link below provides the key information about the current status of the roads at the moment in and around Pride Park Stadium and supporters are advised to check this on a regular basis: https://www.derby.gov.uk/news/2023/october/weather-warnings-latest-updates/.

Minute's Applause

A minute's applause will take place prior to kick-off in memory of former Derby County forward Francis Lee, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 79. He was a key member of Dave Mackay's 1974/75 First Division title winning squad.

The EFL has guided clubs to wear black armbands following the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton at the weekend and he will also be remembered as part of the minute's applause. An absolute great on and off the pitch, Sir Bobby won three Football League First Division titles, an FA Cup and a European Cup during an illustrious career. He also famously helped inspire England to the 1966 World Cup triumph – a year in which he was also named the Ballon D’or winner.

Matchday Programme

There is no more fitting accompaniment to a matchday than the club’s official programme.

Rammed with exclusive content and features, including insights from both Head Coach Warne and the dressing room, in-depth player interviews, opposition analysis, Derby County Women, an Academy round-up and historical dives, issues will be available for sale around the stadium - as always - with all sellers armed with contactless payments units.

If you can’t make every matchday this season though you can still make sure you keep your treasured collection up to date with a full season subscription.

The treasured A5-size 52-page perfect-bound issues will be produced to a schedule that allows for a first-class mail out on the Friday before a weekend fixture, with midweek editions despatched on the day of the game, but this is not a pre-event delivery service.

The price to reserve this collection of memorabilia is £120, including post and packaging, or you can spread the cost by signing up to a half-season subscription for £64 until 2024 for the first 12 games.
