Forward Tyreece John-Jules says he had been 'waiting for the moment' he could get on the pitch and score for Derby County ever since he returned to training earlier this month.

The striker, who is on loan from Arsenal until January, has had a tough time with injury following his move to Derbyshire back in August but marked his return to the side with the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over Port Vale in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night in what was just his third appearance for the club.

The win was Derby's fourth in a row in the league to further cement their place in the division's top six.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game at Vale Park, John-Jules spoke about how he 'dreamt' of this very moment last night.

On how scoring his first goal felt...

I dreamt of this last night to be fair! It's just a big relief. I've been through a hard time since I've been here and only played two games before tonight, but I've been keeping strong and I want to say thank you to the medical team for sticking with me and getting me through this period. I'm just delighted.

On scoring in front of the away end...

I don't think it could have been any better to be honest. It was my first touch after coming on but I'm just delighted to be back on the pitch first and foremost. Hopefully I can keep it up.

On his celebration...

One of my friends told me to do that dance. I told them I was going to score today. I had a good feeling. I've been waiting for this moment ever since I've been back in training.

I was quite nervous when the ball came across. It was a beautiful ball from Nat to be fair but it felt like it took an age to come but I was just thinking about getting a good contact and keeping it low and it ended up in the back of the net.

On the message from Paul Warne when he came on...

He told me to go and change the game and do what I do. He told me to work hard first and foremost, that's always the first thing he says.

On whether the team were confident the goal would come...

We always believe in ourselves as a group. These are the games you've got to win, the tough games away on a Tuesday night. You have to find a way to win by any means necessary and we did that. It was a much needed three points.

On his injury...

It's been very difficult, especially as I came back from the one I had in September and did it again; the exact same thing. I had my family around me, the medical team around me and my team-mates every day coming in trying to keep me happy so I want to say thank you to everyone. I just want to try and stay fit and get as many games as possible now.

On the current run of form...

Performances have been good I've just been itching to come on and try and help the boys. We can always improve but the lads have been doing well and we've been getting the points we wanted.
