Defender Ryan Nyambe believes Derby County were full value for all three points in the 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic.

Nyambe came back into the eleven after a month out of action due to injury and helped the side to a clean sheet and another big three points on Boxing Day in Sky Bet League One with fellow defender Curtis Nelson scoring the only goal in the first half at the DW Stadium.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, the Namibia international reflected on the performance and also reacted to his recent contract extension until 2025.

On his new contract...

First of all, I'm really really happy that it's done and I'm happy that I've now got a future at Derby County. It was always the case when I first signed. The gaffer said that he wanted me to stay for the long-term. It's a big club, we want to get back to the Championship and that was always the plan when I first came.

On the win at Wigan...

It's not an easy place to come to. Today was a tough game, we've got another two matches coming up that are tough as well and you saw the scenes at the end, everyone was really happy to get three points and that's what it's all about.

On the performance...

I think we played really well. We started off well in the first half, moved the ball well and defended well. In the second half we had to hold out a little bit, in the last 20 minutes, but that's how football is sometimes and I thought we did well.

On the team showing two sides to their game during the performance...

We're trying to be consistent with those aspects of the game, going forwards and defensively. I think we've got the best defensive record in the league and we've got a good number of goals on our side, so we can do both.

On the defensive unit...

I think it's the partnership and connection that we have. It's a really solid group. Everyone compliments each other on the pitch and off the pitch and that helps.

On how he's feeling ahead of a quick turnaround with Oxford coming up on Friday...

I feel alright. It's my first game back for four weeks but we'll rest up and recover for two days and go again. It's football!
